Hydraulic Engineer I
Key Responsibilities
• Under the guidance of the engineering manager, design, develop, and test hydraulic systems for various applications
• Plan and execute engineering tasks for project components or moderately complex standalone projects.
• Conduct calculations and simulations to validate system performance
• Select appropriate materials and develop bills of materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and test plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
• Provide technical support to clients and resolve issues
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate project results
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in hydraulic technology
• Provide guidance to technicians during fabrication.
• Manage the project to schedule, communicate potential delays, and advise with recovery plans
Essential Functions:
• Prepare hydraulic and electrical schematics and develop manuals for startup and maintenance.
• Perform engineering calculations for pressure, flow, and heat removal to support system design.
• Provide layout and schematic drawings to fabrication technicians and for final documentation.
• Contribute to project management by:
• Monitoring and updating project budgets.
• Recommending and implementing change orders with customer approval.
• Coordinating with subcontractors to maintain project schedules.
• Providing on-site technical support and field supervision.
• Maintaining documentation and collecting field test data to meet submittal requirements.
• Attending project meetings and coordinating with all stakeholders.
• Support proposal development and provide engineering input for assigned projects.
• Offer technical support to sales teams, parts coordinators, shop personnel, and fellow engineers on component selection, system layout, and fabrication practices.
• Assist with part substitutions to meet delivery timelines and troubleshoot issues during testing.
• Follow and support continuous improvement of Business Management System (BMS) procedures and work instructions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering
• Knowledge interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Inventor is considered an asset.
• Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
