WSP’s Mine Advisory team supports some of Australia’s most innovative mining projects, delivering industry-leading groundwater solutions. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Junior Hydrogeologist to join our Queensland Mine Groundwater team and contribute to a strong pipeline of exciting projects.

As a Junior Hydrogeologist you’ll:

  • Support groundwater investigations, water management and impact assessments for mine sites both within Australia and abroad

  • Undertake field work planning including liaising with subcontractors, logistics, scheduling and development of health and safety documentation

  • Carry out field work such as drilling rig supervision, lithological logging, monitoring bore installation, groundwater sampling and aquifer testing across Australian mine sites, this includes remote locations

  • Contribute to hydrogeological analyses, visualizations, and conceptual site models

  • Prepare technical documentation, figures, and reports for clients and regulators

  • Compile, analyse, and interpret field and project data to support technical assessments

  • Collaborate closely with intermediate and senior hydrogeologists to deliver high‑quality technical services

  • Work both independently and within collaborative project teams under senior guidance

  • Contribute to project delivery while building strong client relationships

  • Comply with all relevant SHEQ and safety requirements

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or a related geoscience discipline

  • 1+ years’ experience in hydrogeology or related field

  • Ability to travel away from home office location for up to 14-days at a time, including air travel and overnight stays

  • Ability to work in remote outdoor locations, that may be subject to adverse weather conditions (i.e., high temperatures)

  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment

  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies

  • Field experience including working with drilling crews, lithological logging, and groundwater data collection (desirable)

  • Experience using GIS or similar tools to visualise data (desirable)

  • Competent technical reporting and data interpretation skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Unrestricted driver’s license (required)
