We are seeking a hands-on Industrial Reliability & Maintenance Engineer to support reliability initiatives within a heavy manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for someone who began their career performing mechanical maintenance and has transitioned into engineering, but still enjoys working directly with equipment and troubleshooting issues in the field.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years of reliability engineering experience in manufacturing, heavy industrial, metals, or similar production environments
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to work directly on production equipment
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance programs
  • Understanding of reliability methodologies including:
    • RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance)
    • RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis)
    • FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
    • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
    • Experience analyzing mechanical and electrical equipment failures
    • Familiarity with OSHA and ASTM standards
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
    • Willingness to spend significant time in the production environment working alongside maintenance personnel
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • CMRP, CRE, or other reliability certification
  • Experience working with steel production or other heavy manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve maintenance reliability strategies for critical production equipment
  • Analyze equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions using RCFA and FMEA
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication analysis
  • Improve preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability
  • Monitor maintenance performance and develop reliability KPIs
  • Recommend improvements that increase equipment uptime while reducing maintenance costs
  • Support major maintenance shutdowns, equipment rebuilds, and capital improvement projects
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, vendors, and contractors to improve equipment performance
  • Provide technical guidance and reliability training for maintenance teams
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
