Position Summary:
This is a full-time professional position providing specialized consultation and training that helps early childhood professionals build the capacity to support children’s social and emotional needs. The person in this position functions with a great deal of professional independence under the general guidance and supervision of the Lead Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant.
Requirements:
- Provide collaborative, relationship-based mental health consultation to home care providers, center/school-based teachers, and directors to promote equitable learning environments and overall well-being
- Demonstrate the ability to work in diverse early childhood programs and settings
- Observe and provide classroom/program assessment and feedback
- Provide child and family centered consultation when caregivers or parents/guardians have concerns regarding specific children
- Develop strength-based goals with teachers and families
- Provide modeling, resources, and referrals as needed
- Conduct community outreach to heighten the awareness of children’s mental health needs
- Maintain a caseload, assist in program implementation and reporting as required by funding source
- Provide training and workshops for early childhood professionals and parents
- Engage in reflective supervision with supervisor and peers
- Establish and maintain relationships with those in the community serving infants, toddlers, and young children
