Position Overview<\/span><\/span><\/b>

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking an experienced<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Information<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Specialist<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>(Clerk 3 ADM04)<\/span><\/span><\/b> to support the Safety Branch within the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration. This role plays a critical part in maintaining service levels by ensuring inquiries received through the provincial<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>1\-800 Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) service<\/span><\/span><\/b> are addressed promptly, accurately, and professionally.<\/span>

The successful candidate will provide<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>information<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>and administrative support to employers, stakeholders, workers, and the general public while assisting with daily office operations and maintaining departmental records and documentation.<\/span>

Key Responsibilities<\/span><\/span><\/b>
<\/span><\/span><\/div>
  • Respond to and manage inquiries received through the 1\-800 Occupational Health & Safety service line.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Provide accurate<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>information<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>and guidance to employers, stakeholders, and members of the public.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Review, prepare, and verify documents, records, and correspondence.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Maintain and organize departmental files, records, and databases.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Assist with inventory tracking and administrative coordination.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Support the distribution and management of inter\-office communications and mail.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Apply established policies, procedures, and guidelines while exercising sound judgment when handling exceptions.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Assist in coordinating daily office operations and administrative activities.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and other administrative documentation as required.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient service delivery and operational effectiveness.<\/span>

    Required Qualifications<\/span><\/span><\/b>
    <\/span><\/span><\/div>
    • Grade XI education plus<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>four (4) years of related administrative, customer service,<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>information<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>services, or office support experience<\/span><\/span><\/b>, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement abilities.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Proven ability to exercise judgment and make decisions within established guidelines.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Strong organizational and record\-management skills.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related office software.<\/span>

      Preferred Qualifications<\/span><\/span><\/b>
      <\/span><\/span><\/div>
      • Experience working in a government, regulatory, safety, or public service environment.<\/span>
        <\/span><\/span><\/li>
      • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety programs, policies, or legislation.<\/span>
        <\/span><\/span><\/li>
      • Experience handling high\-volume inquiries through phone and email channels.<\/span>
