The Role: Infrastructure and Operations Engineer
We have a full-time, permanent opportunity for an Infrastructure and Operations Engineer to join our expanding Technology team based in our Perth CBD office (or at our Harvey office) with occasional travel to our sites in Albany, Harvey and Koojan Downs Feedlot.
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting, maintaining, securing and continuously improving the core infrastructure platforms used across Harvest Road Group entities and operational sites.
This role operates within the IT Operations team alongside Applications, Systems, Cyber Security and Service Desk functions, while working closely with the broader Technology team across both the Perth CBD office and Harvey processing operations. You will also support wider Harvest Road Group locations throughout Western Australia, which are primarily managed remotely but may occasionally require onsite travel to Albany, Harvey and the Koojan Feedlot.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain and support Harvest Road Group’s hybrid infrastructure environments across cloud, on-premises and operational technology platforms.
- Manage and support Microsoft Azure and Azure Local / Stack HCI infrastructure environments, including short-term support and migration activities from VMware, Hyper-V and AWS platforms.
- Maintain and support core Microsoft infrastructure services including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Entra ID and Microsoft 365 platforms.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, health and capacity across production and staging environments to ensure operational reliability and service continuity.
- Maintain and support infrastructure monitoring, alerting and reporting platforms to proactively identify, investigate and resolve operational issues.
- Perform infrastructure lifecycle management activities including patching, firmware upgrades, vulnerability remediation, hardware refreshes and platform optimisation.
- Develop, implement and maintain infrastructure security standards, system hardening practices and access controls in alignment with organisational and cybersecurity requirements.
About You:
- 5+ years of experience in an infrastructure, systems or cloud engineering role.
- Degree, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Industry certifications highly regarded, including: Microsoft Azure / Azure Local (Stack HCI), VMware, Microsoft Server Technologies, AWS Certifications.
- Strong experience supporting enterprise hybrid infrastructure environments across cloud and on-premises platforms.
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Local / Stack HCI, VMware vSphere and Hyper-V virtualisation platforms, Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and identity services, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Intune, Storage, backup and disaster recovery technologies, Infrastructure monitoring and alerting systems.
- Experience supporting cloud-hosted workloads and hybrid infrastructure integrations across Azure and AWS environments.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security principles, system hardening, patch management, vulnerability remediation and access control management.
- General understanding of enterprise networking concepts including switching, wireless infrastructure, VLANs, routing and WAN connectivity technologies.
- Experience with scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Bash or similar.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timelines.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Strong sense of accountability, ownership, initiative and attention to detail.
- Ability to mentor and support Service Desk and junior technical staff.
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality support outcomes.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to regional operational sites across Western Australia where required.
