We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Apprentice for Infrastructure Automation & Data Center Operations to join our core engineering and operations team. This role is a prime opportunity for aspiring engineers looking to build a career in virtualization technologies, data center infrastructure management (DCIM), system integration, and automation scripting.
As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on exposure to enterprise-scale environments, working alongside experienced professionals to bridge the gap between physical hardware management and modern, automated cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Center & Infrastructure Management
- Support the team in managing and maintaining enterprise DCIM platforms such as DCTrack and NetBox.
- Maintain rigorous infrastructure documentation, including asset tracking, rack-level space allocation, and cable/network mapping.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and operational consistency across all tracking systems.
2. Virtualization & Operations
- Assist in the administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise virtualization and cloud platforms (e.g., XCP-ng, OpenStack).
- Participate in daily operations, helping resolve basic infrastructure, virtualization, and tool-related issues.
- Help prepare performance reports, operational dashboards, and updates for internal stakeholders.
3. Automation & Systems Integration
- Write and maintain basic scripts (Python, Shell, or PowerShell) to improve operational efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and generate reports.
- Support integration activities across various infrastructure, monitoring, and operations systems using APIs.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives to streamline infrastructure management.
Qualifications & Skills
Educational Background
- Degree/Diploma: Bachelor’s degree, Diploma (or currently pursuing) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Technical Requirements
- Virtualization: A solid foundational understanding of virtualization concepts (hypervisors, VMs, basic cloud architecture).
- Scripting: Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash/Shell, or PowerShell).
- Tools & Systems: Exposure to infrastructure management or DCIM tools (NetBox, DCTrack, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Operating Systems: Basic familiarity with Linux environments.
- Networking: Fundamental knowledge of networking principles (IP addressing, subnets, switches, routers, and cabling).
