Infrastructure Field Technician Level 2
You will ensure the reliability and functionality of IT mining site infrastructure by resolving technical issues, assisting on-site users, and managing the lifecycle of on-site IT assets. You will install and remove network and server hardware, organize and maintain cabling, perform routine datacenter checks, monitor HVAC and power distribution, diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and system issues, apply security patches and updates, oversee backups and data wiping, control datacenter access, design and implement new systems and network infrastructure, and maintain logs and documentation. You will also participate in on-call support rotations and travel between datacenter sites as required.
Responsibilities
- Install and remove network devices
- Install, patch, label and organize network cabling
- Update inventory databases and asset management systems
- Clean IT equipment and surrounding areas
- Dispose or recycle decommissioned hardware following policy
- Perform routine datacenter floor checks for alarms or equipment distress
- Monitor HVAC systems to maintain optimal equipment temperature
- Monitor and report health and safety hazards
- Monitor PDUs and ensure proper power distribution
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues
- Escalate complex issues and track them to resolution
- Identify and report damaged equipment to senior staff
- Install and remove server and storage hardware in racks
- Replace failed server components such as hard drives and power supplies
- Configure equipment and operating systems
- Apply security patches and software updates
- Oversee backups and ensure backup integrity
- Wipe or destroy data storage devices to protect sensitive information
- Ensure only authorized personnel gain access to the datacenter
- Design, plan and implement new systems and network infrastructure
- Maintain logs and documentation of activities and procedures
- Assume Level 1 responsibilities when necessary
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar position
- Obtain ASP training within 90 days of hire
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma
- Technical courses or certifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Master safety standards for the work environment
- Proactive, inquisitive and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to travel between datacenter in Sherbrooke
- Availability for weekly on-call rotation
- Ability to work Monday to Friday 7 am to 4 pm onsite
