Innovation Center Teacher
Miami Country School (MCDS) is seeking an innovative, creative, and student-created educator to join our Garner Center for Innovation as a Lower School Innovation Center Teacher. This exciting role supports our PK3-12 Innovation Pathway by inspiring young learners through hands-on, project-based experiences in design thinking, engineering, coding, robotics, fabrication, and digital design. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with classroom teachers and innvoation faculty to integrate creativity, problem-solving and emerging technologies into meaningful learning experiences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, innovation faculty, and school leadership to design and facilitate interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences aligned with curricular goals.
- Support implementation of the PK3–12 Innovation Pathway within the Lower School.
- Integrate design thinking, engineering, coding, robotics, fabrication, and creative technologies into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Facilitate hands-on projects that encourage creativity, collaboration, iteration, and problem-solving.
- Guide students through the design thinking process, including empathy building, ideation, prototyping, testing, and presentation of solutions.
- Coach and support robotics teams, innovation programs, and student competitions.
- Mentor students in invention, product development, entrepreneurship, and presentation skills.
- Participate in after-school programs, showcases, and special events as needed.
- Maintain makerspaces, fabrication studios, equipment, and innovation learning environments.
- Manage inventory, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and student safety training related to fabrication and robotics technologies.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and refinement of the PK3–12 Innovation Pathway.
