Inspection Engineer (Optics / Photonics)
We are seeking a detail-oriented QC / Inspection Engineer to support quality assurance activities in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
The role focuses on product inspection, defect identification, and ensuring outgoing product quality meets strict customer and process requirements.
You will work closely with production and engineering teams to support continuous improvement in inspection methods, defect analysis, and product reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform product inspection at incoming, in-process, and final stages to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Conduct manual visual inspection of precision components, including glass and optical parts under controlled lighting conditions (bright field and dark field)
- Vision-based measurement / inspection systems
- Identify, classify, and document product defects based on defined criteria
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to investigate quality issues and support corrective actions
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve inspection methods and detection efficiency
- Ensure inspection records are accurately maintained and properly documented for traceability
- Prepare and compile inspection reports for product release and quality review
Requirements
- Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Optics, or related technical discipline
- Experience in manufacturing inspection, QC, or metrology environment (semiconductor, optics, photonics preferred)
- Hands-on experience using basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, microscopes)
- Able to perform detailed visual inspection and identify minor defects on precision parts
- Able to interpret basic engineering drawings and product specifications
- Comfortable using standard office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail with good documentation discipline and communication skills
