Inspections Coordinator (Materials Testing and Engineering Services)
SGS is seeking an organised and proactive Inspections and Materials Coordinator to support inspection our team across Australia. Based in Melbourne, this role supports smooth project delivery while maintaining SGS quality, safety and customer service standards.
What you will be doing
- Plan and coordinate inspection activities to ensure safe, efficient and compliant service delivery in line with client, contractual and internal requirements.
- Liaise with local and international clients to support timely delivery of inspection services and maintain strong working relationships.
- Manage inspection scheduling, including inspectors, subcontractors, equipment and logistics to meet operational demands.
- Maintain accurate job files, records, reporting documentation and system data to support compliance and effective project execution.
- Source, engage and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring capability, availability and compliance with requirements.
- Support commercial activities, including preparation of proposals and collaboration with business development teams.
- Conduct vehicle inspections as required, ensuring accurate reporting of findings in line with applicable standards and procedures.
- Ensure inspection tools, equipment and processes are used and maintained in accordance with quality and safety requirements.
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
- Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering materials, testing methodologies, and quality assurance principles.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
- Experience in inspection, quality control, or mechanical assessment is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital inspection or reporting systems.
- The ability to coordinate workflows, resources, documentation, and client requirements effectively.
- A valid Australian driver's licence.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an MSIC card for restricted operational and port access.
