Role Overview:
Blackstone is seeking a Vice President of International Tax Compliance to join its BX India team. Reporting to the SVP – Tax Lead and the Managing Director – Global Tax Planning, this role is critical in supporting the global tax compliance and reporting obligations of Blackstone’s non-U.S. house and investment platform entities across 17 jurisdictions in EMA and APAC. The position encompasses local filings, entity-level compliance, and international tax analysis.
The Vice President will oversee and coordinate all aspects of international tax compliance and reporting for non-U.S. entities, with a focus on accuracy, process efficiency, and risk mitigation. This individual will work closely with internal teams and external advisors to ensure adherence to tax laws across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Tax Compliance & Filings:
o Manage the preparation and filing of local tax returns, corporate income tax filings, and related disclosures for non-U.S. entities.
o Coordinate with global service providers and local advisors to compile and review entity-level tax data, ensuring timely submission of foreign filings.
o Track and monitor filing deadlines, foreign income tax liabilities, and tax payment obligations across jurisdictions.
• Tax Provisioning:
o Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations for foreign entities, including local GAAP-to-tax reconciliations.
• Fund Entities and SPVs:
o Support local tax compliance requirements of fund entities and special-purpose vehicles (SPVs) used in international deal structuring.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Partner with internal fund accounting, legal, and structuring teams to address entity-level compliance obligations in real time.
• Documentation & Audit Support:
o Maintain documentation and workpapers in compliance with audit and internal control standards.
o Assist with responses to foreign tax authority audits and information requests as needed.
• Strategic Initiatives:
o Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize tax planning and identify opportunities for tax savings.
o Identify areas for process, systems, and reporting improvements to enhance the effectiveness of tax compliance programs.
• Team Development & Knowledge Sharing:
o Provide training and share best practices across the BX Tax Operations Team.
o Train, manage, and mentor newcomers and junior team members within the BX India tax function.
• Additional Responsibilities:
o Lead and participate in global projects, interacting with cross-functional teams across the organization.
o Perform other tax-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire experienced international tax professional with a proven track record in tax compliance and foreign entity reporting. The ideal candidate will possess:
• Experience & Technical Knowledge:
o Overall 12-15 years of experience
o Minimum of 8 years of experience in international tax compliance; Big 4 or an alternative asset management firm experience is a plus.
o Expertise in international tax compliance and reporting obligations for large multinational groups.
o Familiarity with private equity fund structures and associated tax reporting requirements for foreign entities preferred.
o Experience coordinating with local country tax advisors across multiple jurisdictions.
o Strong understanding of tax accounting principles and foreign tax provision calculations.
• Skills:
o Excellent organizational and project management skills, with ability to coordinate deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
o Highly effective communicator with exceptional attention to detail and documentation standards.
• Education & Certifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
o CPA, JD, MST, or local equivalent preferred.
