iOS Engineer (AI native)

Build the app patients open every day to get their lives back.

nyra health builds the digital solutions that make neurological rehabilitation work outside clinic walls: myReha, the patient therapy app, and nyra insights, the clinician platform. 100+ clinics across DACH rely on both. We've raised €20M Series A and are scaling our team.

nyra's iOS app is how patients do their therapy — real-time ML speech feedback, hundreds of exercises, across clinic iPads from 2018 to the latest iPhones. You'll own it with a small, strong mobile team.

What you'll work on

  • The therapy experience — own the daily patient surface: speech exercises, cognitive tasks, multimedia flows. You set the bar for feel, speed, and reliability.

  • ML & speech in production — bridge our ML models to the patient's moment of use. Shape how real-time speech feedback renders — latency, confidence, fallback — via CoreML, PyTorch Mobile, and cloud speech APIs.

  • Device performance — own the performance envelope from 2018 clinic iPads to current iPhones: startup, memory, responsiveness, offline resilience.

  • Offline-first — robust local persistence and smooth cloud sync so therapy never breaks on poor connectivity.

  • Engineering standards — shape architecture, review culture, and testing strategy as a senior voice on the team.

What sets you up for success

Must-have

  • 5+ years Swift — SwiftUI, async/await, Combine, MVVM

  • Quality-focused: smooth animations, accessible UIs, craft in a clinical context

  • AI-native — Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent as daily infrastructure

  • Cross-functional: comfortable with Product, Design, QA, backend

  • HTL/Bachelor/Master's in CS or equivalent

Nice to have

  • Audio/media: AVFoundation, real-time processing

  • CoreML / PyTorch Mobile · offline-first sync · Firebase / NoSQL

  • Multi-agent AI workflows · performance profiling · published apps

Why nyra

  • Patients first, always — everything we build is measured by patient outcomes, not engagement metrics. You're shipping therapy, not features.

  • AI at the core — ML-powered speech recognition and therapy personalisation are built directly into the product. You'll work with the ML team, not just consume an API. One of the largest labeled datasets of neurological speech in existence, powering cutting-edge ML and therapy personalisation.

  • Ownership & direct access — you'll see the direct impact of your work and be accountable for outcomes, not just outputs. Founders, ML engineers, and practicing clinicians are in the same room — decisions move fast and you're part of them.

  • Transparent, direct culture — open communication and honest feedback are how we operate. No layers.

  • AI-native — every team member has Claude Pro and is expected to use AI tools daily. We're not experimenting; we've moved on.

  • Some of the best Mario Kart drivers in the Austrian startup scene 😉

The process

  1. Intro call (~30 min) — background, motivations, role, and nyra

  2. Technical interview (~60 min) — walk us through a project you're proud of; we'll discuss implementation decisions, architecture, and what you'd change

  3. Founders' interview (~45 min) — your approach, technical philosophy, and how you'd shape neurotherapy on iOS
