The Role: IT Systems and Cloud Engineer
Particle Measuring Systems is seeking to hire an experienced IT Systems and Cloud Engineer with a strong background in on-premise infrastructure and Microsoft Azure cloud. This role is crucial in supporting our expanding IT environment and designing our IT department's future model.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing and optimizing both on-premise compute and cloud-based services, ensuring the reliability and security of our network infrastructure, and driving innovation within our IT operations.
Manage Particle Measuring Systems Cloud infrastructure, including (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Cloud-connected Networking)
Manage Cloud infrastructure, Data management, and Protection solutions
Information security and risk management (including periodic tests and process iteration of disaster recovery and business continuity management)
Ensuring that Cloud systems are running and performing as they should by actively monitoring and responding to incidents that might affect highly available and performant systems
Managing escalated Cloud infrastructure incidents
The Cloud Engineer reports to the Global IT Manager and is responsible for supporting Particle Measuring Systems Technology Cloud Infrastructure transformation, Particle Measuring Systems Cloud iteration, and Operations.
The Cloud Engineer works alongside the IT Service Delivery Manager in ensuring cloud infrastructure services are maintained to the highest levels of security, availability, and performance; ensuring continued Service delivery to the business.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the Design, implementation, migration to, and management of Microsoft Azure environments to support our organizational needs.
Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards.
Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS services, Entra AD, Conditional Access, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory Services, Windows Server OS, VMware, and storage technologies.
A comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft modern workplace, including Office 365, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, Viva, and Defender XDR.
Hands-on experience and knowledge of networking, including the OSI 7-layer model, various management and analysis tools, Cisco technologies like Secure Endpoint, Windows Defender, Zscaler, Citrix, and networking protocols.
Configuration and Management via Intune for device management, security policies, and application deployment.
Experience working in a switched and routed environment.
Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience.
Experience with installing/configuring firewalls, switches, routers, wireless bridges, etc.
Knowledge of security software, firewall appliances, Linux systems builds and management, and network security measures.
Knowledge and understanding of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Manufacturing industry software knowledge in products such as Autodesk/Autocad, etc., is a plus
Telephony knowledge of Poly, Crestron, and AMX room AV systems is a plus.
Track record in identifying and developing solutions that enhance quality, delivery speed, and efficiency, prioritizing automation technologies to improve customer and employee experiences. Can implement platform integrations and automations between various cloud platforms.
Experience with automation using a variety of programming languages and tools, including Bash, PowerShell, and Python, with minimal assistance from others.
Understanding and experience in a recognized ITSM framework, ensuring the management of a proper environment configuration, IT hardware inventory management, licensing, software distribution, and PC/end user onboarding and offboarding of all IT equipment, including PC setup, troubleshooting, and security controls.
Ability to provide support and escalation to a team of IT specialists and projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address IT infrastructure requirements.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, processes, and configurations.
Ensure the security and compliance of IT systems in accordance with industry standards and company policies.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Assist in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
After-hours support and weekends when needed
Team-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Qualifications
Proven experience with network and server management.
Strong knowledge of IT security practices and protocols.
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven expertise in configuring, managing, and optimizing Azure cloud services.
Strong knowledge of Intune for device management, security, and application deployment.
Experience with network architecture, security, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
Demonstrable extensive experience and practical configuration and deployment of cloud infrastructure
Demonstrable extensive experience in Azure Cloud and associated Microsoft technologies
AZ-104 Azure Administrator
AZ-305 Azure Architect Expert
SC-300 Identity and Access Associate
MS-100 Microsoft 365 Identity and Services
Zscaler and zero-trust solutions experience is a plus
ITIL certified or demonstrable equivalent experience
Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT systems engineering or a related role.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies.
Must demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role primarily operates in an office/lab/manufacturing environment.
Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time.
This is a hybrid position, “in-office” minimum 3 days per week.
Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required.

Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary range: $95,000 - $142,000
Our compensation philosophy: we offer competitive pay based on market data, including local, national, and industry benchmarks. For new hires, offers are generally within the established min- to mid-point of the range for the role, with flexibility to recognize experience, skills, and education. Our approach ensures fair pay internally while remaining competitive externally and allows room for growth.
