IT Continuity & Resilience Specialist

About the role
At BSI, resilience is at the heart of what we do. We're looking for an IT Continuity & Resilience Specialist to help strengthen the resilience of our global technology estate, ensuring our critical systems and services remain available and recover quickly when disruptions occur.
Working closely with the Global IT Continuity & Resilience Manager, you'll play a key role in developing, maintaining and continuously improving our disaster recovery and resilience capabilities. From coordinating disaster recovery testing and supporting resilience planning, to partnering with technical teams and ensuring audit readiness, you'll help embed a culture of resilience across our global IT organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in IT resilience, disaster recovery, business continuity or IT risk who enjoys working collaboratively across technical teams while helping deliver meaningful improvements to organisational resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the development and continual improvement of BSI's IT Continuity and Resilience Framework, aligned to recognised industry standards such as ISO 22301 and ISO 27001.
Work with infrastructure, application and business teams to develop, review and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) plans for critical services.
Ensure Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) are documented, understood and aligned to business requirements.
Coordinate and support Disaster Recovery testing activities, including planning, execution, evidence collection and post-test reporting.
Track remediation actions arising from DR exercises and ensure identified gaps are addressed.
Maintain resilience information across the application portfolio, including DR status, ownership, service tiering and recovery objectives.
Support IT resilience risk assessments and control reviews, identifying opportunities to strengthen resilience across services.
Prepare documentation and evidence to support internal and external audits and regulatory requirements.
Build strong relationships with IT teams, business stakeholders and third-party suppliers to embed resilience best practices.
Support awareness sessions and guidance to improve organisational understanding of IT continuity responsibilities.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance reporting, automation and resilience processes.
What we're looking for
Essential:
Experience working within IT Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, IT Risk or IT Service Resilience.
Good understanding of Disaster Recovery principles, including RTOs, RPOs and resilience planning.
Experience coordinating or supporting Disaster Recovery testing and resilience exercises.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
Experience maintaining documentation, evidence and reporting to support governance and audit activities.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
Highly desirable
Knowledge of ISO 22301, ISO 27001 or other resilience and information security frameworks.
Experience supporting internal or external audits.
Exposure to IT risk management or operational resilience programmes.
Experience working within large, global or matrix organisations.
Knowledge of IT Service Management frameworks such as ITIL.
Experience improving reporting, automation or resilience tooling.
