IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION)-TITLE 32

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION)-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2489P01 and is part of the KY DCSOPS, National Guard. ***NOTE: Indefinite employment is temporary and is expected to last more than one year but no more than five consecutive years. This appointment will not exceed 01 JUN 2029 and will not be extended without further competition.

As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION)-TITLE 32, GS-2210-11, you will analyze requirements, monitor performance, resolve problems, and develop recovery procedures. Install, configure, and maintain servers and server resources. Install and upgrade operating systems and software packages IAW Army standards. Develop and maintain database of hardware and software configurations. Conduct hardware and software audits and maintain system configurations. Monitor and manage the performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability of installed servers and server resources. Implement security procedures and tools. Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems, and ensure server functionality, integrity, and efficiency. Resolve inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Provide technical assistance and training to users minimizing disruptions of computer operations. Analyze, evaluate, and resolve malfunctions by adjusting equipment configurations, realigning port allocations, and recommending appropriate acquisitions. Document program purposes, methods, assumptions, and conclusions. Lead or participate in on-site surveys and/or review program information to determine status of the function and quality of services. Maintain liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching products, technologies, and advancements. Perform other duties as assigned. Military Grades: SPC - CW3 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position may be located on a tobacco free facility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M. Must obtain and maintain Security+ Certification within six (9) months of appointment.
