IT Systems Administrator | On Site
Job Description
This is an on site, in office role in Kalamazoo, MI.
Overview
The Systems Administrator will be a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, responsible for maintaining and supporting our hybrid cloud environment. This role focuses on the health, security, and performance of our on-premises Hyper-V cluster and Azure cloud resources. This individual will play a vital role in managing identity through Entra ID and supporting mission-critical hospitality systems across multiple sites.
What You’ll Be Doing
May include, but not limited to:
Virtualization & Server Management
Maintain and support a high-availability Hyper-V cluster environment.
Monitor server health and performance for approximately 35 servers, including mission-critical on-premises workloads and phone systems.
Manage the migration of workloads to Hyper-V or Azure as part of ongoing infrastructure modernization.
Perform regular OS patching, updates, and hardware maintenance across all physical sites.
Identity & Hybrid Cloud Operations
Manage Active Directory (AD) objects, Group Policies (GPOs), and DNS/DHCP services.
Monitor and troubleshoot the Entra Connect sync process to ensure seamless hybrid identity.
Support Azure cloud resources under the guidance of the Infrastructure and Security Manager.
"Light" Networking & Connectivity
Configure and troubleshoot Hyper-V Virtual Switches, including VLAN tagging (802.1Q) for voice and data isolation.
Collaborate with the Network Administrator/Engineer to troubleshoot site-to-site VPN connectivity and local office networking issues.
Manage IP address assignments and DHCP scopes across a multi-site WAN.
Data Protection & Security
Execute and verify daily backups for all critical on-premises and cloud workloads.
Implement server hardening standards and security best practices.
Assist in incident response and vulnerability remediation.
What You Need for this Position
3-5 years in a Systems Administrator or similar infrastructure role.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V and Failover Clustering.
Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure/Entra ID.
Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, and basic switching/routing concepts.
Ability to support a 24/7 hospitality environment and travel to local sites as needed.
Experience with PowerShell scripting for task automation.
Experience supporting VoIP or digital phone systems in a virtualized environment.
Familiarity with hospitality-specific technology (POS, PMS systems).
