Jewish Chaplain (Per Diem) - Morristown Medical Center
The Jewish Chaplain’s duties will vary depending on the needs of the patient population and MMC’s Spiritual Care Department, but the responsibilities of the chaplain will include:
- Assessing spiritual needs and providing necessary spiritual care to Jewish patients and their loved ones as they face personal and emotional challenges of all sorts, especially those related to serious illness
- Maintaining an openness and a nonjudgmental attitude towards individuals the Jewish spectrum
- Collaborating with MMC team members to ensure to quality and comprehensive care is delivered
- Following MMC procedures regarding documentation and patient confidentiality
- If requested, serving as a resource to MMC’s Bioethics committee
- Coordinating volunteer outreach, including the Bikur Cholim room.
- Addressing the religious needs of patients, families, and staff ahead of Jewish holidays.
- Attending to needs surrounding Shabbat and Shabbat observance including on-site presence 8a-12p on Fridays
Qualifications and Education:
- Master’s Degree in Related Discipline or equivalent required
- One ACPE CPE unit required, four ACPE CPE units preferred
- Member of NAJC, Board Certified or Board Certified Eligible preferred
