Junior Accountant Associate

Uliza Events is a start up that offers identification solutions across Africa<\/b>, serving clients in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Ghana, and Nigeria<\/b>. We work with top\-tier event organizers, hotels, malls, theme parks, and corporate clients.

As we scale rapidly across regions, we require a Junior Accountant<\/b> who is sharp, disciplined, and precise<\/b>. The ideal candidate will have hands\-on experience filing VAT, PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, and income tax returns<\/b>, and must bring structure, speed, and full ownership<\/b> to the finance department.

Role Summary<\/b>

This is a core finance role<\/b> responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting and operations<\/b> across all branches. You will be tasked with maintaining clean books, enforcing spending discipline, and closing financial gaps before they occur.

Key Responsibilities<\/b>

  • File Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, NSSF, and SHIF returns<\/b> on time without fail.
    <\/p><\/li>

  • Maintain accurate transaction records for:
    <\/p>

    • Sales (cash, M\-PESA, bank)
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Purchases and supplier payments
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Petty cash and staff commissions
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Payroll tracking and statutory deductions
      <\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

    • Ensure all data is recorded in Zoho Books<\/b>\u2014clean, traceable, and audit\-ready.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly financial reports<\/b>.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Reconcile inter\-branch transfers and cross\-country financial movements.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Track stock purchases and validate the cost of goods sold.
      <\/p><\/li>

    • Support internal accountability by ensuring all expenses are approved, documented, and justified.

      Requirements<\/h3>
      • Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting or Finance<\/b>, or CPAK (at least up to Section 4)<\/b>.
        <\/p><\/li>

      • Proven experience in filing VAT, PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, and Income Tax.<\/b>
        <\/p><\/li>

      • Proficiency in Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or Excel\-based accounting.<\/b>
        <\/p><\/li>

      • Strong skills in financial reporting, reconciliation, and documentation.<\/b>
        <\/p><\/li>

      • Able to work in a fast\-paced, target\-driven environment<\/b> with minimal supervision.
        <\/p><\/li>

      • High integrity and strong attention to detail\u2014zero tolerance for financial inaccuracies.<\/b>
