Junior Design Engineer

The Junior Design Engineer will actively support the design, coordination, and delivery of HVAC systems for Marine & Offshore projects. He/she will work under the supervision of the Senior Design Engineers and Head of Engineering contributing to engineering activities while progressively developing technical and project management capabilities. As a Junior Design Engineer, you will report to the Head of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Support & Design

  • Support the design of HVAC systems including (but not limited to):

i. Air conditioning systems

ii. Ventilation systems

iii. Split units

iv. Automation & electrical systems

v. Instrumentation

vi. Ducting and piping systems

  • Assist in the preparation and production of engineering deliverables:

i. P&ID, D&ID and other schematic drawings

ii. Layout drawings

iii. Technical documentation

  • Contribute to thermal calculations, equipment sizing and system selection under supervision.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of engineering deliverables.

2. Project Support

  • Support Design Engineers in project execution.
  • Contribute to meeting design and production schedules (manufacturing and equipment delivery).
  • Assist in tracking deliverables and project milestones.

3. Technical Coordination

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, automation, piping).
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients and shipyards.
  • Support the preparation and presentation of design drawings and technical documentation.
  • Progressive exposure to managing technical interactions with clients

4. Procurement

  • Assist in:

i. Preparation of technical specifications for suppliers and OEMs

ii. Sourcing of suppliers and OEMs

iii. Technical evaluation of suppliers and OEMs

  • Support coordination with suppliers and subcontractors under supervision.


5. Site Support

  • Provide support during execution phases:

i. Installation

ii. Testing & commissioning

iii. System validation

  • Assist in ensuring systems comply with:

i. Performance requirements

ii. Safety standards

6. Career Development

  • Clear progression path towards Senior Design Engineer or Project Engineer roles

Qualifications & skills

1. Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering (with HVAC specialization preferred)

2. Experience

  • Minimum practical experience required, through:

i. Internship(s) in engineering or industrial environment

ii. Final year project with strong technical content (HVAC, thermodynamics, fluid systems, energy systems)

3. Technical Skills & Personality

  • Basic knowledge of:

i. Thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics (for mechanical profiles)

ii. Engineering design principles

  • Familiarity with:

i. AutoCAD

ii. Microsoft Office

  • Strong personal attributes:

i. Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise

ii. Proactive and hands-on mindset

iii. Attention to detail

iv. Ability to work in a team environment

v. Ability to adapt to multicultural and international environments

4. Leadership & Communication Skills

a. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
