Junior Software Engineer

Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is seeking an experienced Aerospace Software Verification Engineer to join our team in performing software design review and software verification for a Level A certified aircraft engine control system.
Due to the nature of the project, all applicants must be U.S. citizens.
This role is onsite in Cincinnati, OH.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed reviews of software design diagrams (created in Beacon) against established standards, checklists, and best practices.
- Develop, execute, and debug software unit tests to verify requirements-based functionality and robustness.
- Identify, document, and resolve discrepancies or defects discovered during reviews and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support verification activities in a regulated aerospace environment.
Required Skills:
- Solid understanding of fundamental software concepts, including data types, control structures, conditional execution paths, and modular design.
- Experience interpreting and working with software logic diagrams, flowcharts, or model-based design representations.
- Proven hands-on experience in software verification activities, such as testing, reviews, or analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work methodically in accordance with strict processes.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of DO-178C (or DO-178B) Level A certification processes, particularly as applied to aircraft engine control systems or FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control).
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks/tools in embedded or safety-critical environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and process-driven team setting.
- Prior experience in aerospace, avionics, or similarly regulated industries.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.
- Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
- Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.
- Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.
- Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM
- Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
