Language Planning Advisor

The Language Planning Advisor provides support to Te Hiringa, the language planning support team, its Team Leader, and Deputy Chief Executive. You contribute to the revitalisation of te reo Māori by providing support and guidance in the development of language plans, including:

• Meeting with organisations to understand their language planning and normalisation needs in accordance with the Maihi Karauna objectives.
• Share best practice with those organisations.
• Assist in the development of tools and resources that promote language use and critical awareness.
• Support the language plan of Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori.

You will be able to measure the success of your engagement based on the extent to which those agencies reciprocate and engage with Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori around language planning.

About you

As a Language Planning Advisor, you will be all about relationships and highly focused on understanding needs of those relationships. You will bring experience in influencing, building and sustaining relationships to achieve results. You will also bring confidence and skill in influencing and engaging across an organisation.

You don’t need to be fluent in te reo Māori, but it will be advantageous as you will be contributing towards Māori language revitalisation.

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000
