Knowledge Associate, GMA - ESG

As our global footprint continues to grow, we are looking for an expert in ESG regulations and sustainability frameworks to support our Global Market Access (GMA) team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing ESG compliance and providing consultancy on international regulatory issues.

As an ESG Knowledge Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring alignment with global ESG regulations and standards. You will play a key role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes and implementing solutions that support sustainable business practices.

As a UL GMA Knowledge Associate, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive ESG research reports based on the required regulatory information.
  • Act as the primary contact for delivering ESG knowledge solutions and supporting key customers.
  • Monitor regulatory trends and communicate upcoming changes.
  • Lead actions related to ESG business expansion, tracking opportunities and results.
  • Support cross-country ESG knowledge sharing and regulatory alignment.
  • Coordinate research/studies including multiple products, regulations, countries under supervision and guidance.
  • May act as owner of certain geographic areas or regulations under supervision and guidance.
  • Cooperate with industries and colleagues to support development GMA knowledge services and customized solutions.
  • May supervise the day-to-day delivery of high-quality knowledge services under supervision and guidance.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Background: preference for legal background, i.e. EU law, International Environmental Law and/or Human Rights law. Other degrees may be considered if the candidate has strong research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of global ESG trends and regulations, especially environmental topics.
  • Knowledge of ESG reporting, climate change mitigation, and due diligence requirements, including:
    • Regulatory frameworks: CBAM, CSRD, ESRS, CSDDD, ETS, Forced Labor Regulation, Critical Raw Materials
    • International Voluntary Frameworks: GRI, IFRS, TNFD, TCFD, OECD Recommendations on Due Diligence
    • Climate, Decarbonization, Circular Economy
  • Experience in regulatory or policy analysis (preferred)
  • Strong written, research, analytical and verbal English skills
  • Ability to conduct research in the fields of global regulations and standards
  • Ability to analyze and summarize the content of laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams.
  • Ability to simplify complex regulatory concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate trends and address challenges early.
