Lab Waste & Facilities Support Technician
Our Orlando, FL laboratory is looking for a Lab Waste & Facilities Support Technician to join their team! The Lab Waste & Facilities Support Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible laboratory. In this hands‑on position, you will manage all waste streams—including hazardous materials and client samples—while supporting facility logistics that keep our operations running smoothly. What You’ll Do
Environmental Waste Management
- Oversee all laboratory waste streams, ensuring safe, compliant disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
- Follow established procedures for chemical handling, treatment, storage, and disposal in accordance with OSHA and regulatory standards.
- Collect waste from laboratory departments and prepare materials for proper disposal, adjusting pick‑ups based on operational needs.
- Maintain accurate records of hazardous materials on‑site; verify, classify, and label waste for disposal.
- Coordinate waste pick‑ups with approved vendors based on waste category and regulatory requirements.
- Keep the waste management area clean, organized, and inspection‑ready at all times.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct daily safety walkthroughs to assess waste needs and identify potential hazards.
- Promote a strong safety culture by following all health and safety procedures and modeling safe work practices.
- Maintain required certifications and ensure renewals are completed on time.
Facilities & Operational Support
- Assist with general facility maintenance tasks as needed to support smooth laboratory operations.
- Support the Sample Management team with kit preparation, shipping/receiving, and sample log‑in during peak periods.
- Communicate proactively with management regarding waste concerns, facility needs, or safety issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall laboratory operations.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma required.
- Experience with hazardous waste, environmental services, or facility operations preferred.
Skills & Abilities

Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
