Laboratory Technician

We're looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team in Rolleston, New Zealand.   • Prepare and analyze laboratory samples using standard analytical techniques in compliance with established protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Operate and maintain complex laboratory instrumentation, including gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, and ICP systems
  • Aliquot, weigh, and process samples with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Record, calculate, and report analytical data and results to supervisors, ensuring transparency and precision in all documentation
  • Perform routine glassware washing and maintain general housekeeping standards in your work area to support laboratory efficiency
  • Apply Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles in all areas of responsibility
  • Conduct all laboratory activities in a safe, efficient, and organized manner, adhering to health and safety protocols
  • Communicate any unusual test occurrences or concerns to supervisors promptly and professionally
  • Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and support laboratory goals
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team objectives

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Chemistry or a related scientific field (preferred)
  • 1-2 years of previous laboratory experience or exposure
  • Professional working proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, and speak clearly
  • Strong knowledge of GMP/GLP compliance and laboratory safety standards
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) with precision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in measurements and documentation
  • Ability to work efficiently under supervision using routine and standard methods

**Preferred Skills and Experience:**

  • Experience with sample preparation using standard laboratory techniques
  • Proficiency in performing chemical analysis and data calculations
  • Familiarity with instrument-specific data systems and software
  • Problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
  • Strong team participation and collaboration abilities
  • Experience in production-oriented environments with awareness of meeting deadlines
  • Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills
  • Physical capability to perform laboratory tasks, including standing for extended periods and handling laboratory equipment
