Job Summary

Under direction of the Director/Manager of Plant Operations, or their liaison, the labor person's duties and responsibilities, in day-to-day and or emergent situations, require independent judgment and initiative based on general knowledge of the trades. Maintain grounds of the Hospital complex. Maintain all tools and equipment properly, according to department standards. Contributes to the safe operation of Plant Operations and Hospital standards and MIOSHA requirements by wearing all safety equipment necessary for the specific job. Check tools and equipment for proper functioning prior to using them and performs basic repair when necessary. Cleans and stores tools each day according to department standards. Maintains work area in a clean and neat manner prior to the end of each shift. Promotes a professional image by adhering to dress code as evidenced by Director, Assistant Director, or the designated Supervisor of Plant Operations (Senior Staff).
Must fill out completed work orders and/or daily time sheets and turn them in on a daily basis. Monitors and maintains required supplies and tools in a neat and orderly fashion insuring that proper inventory is maintained, tools are functioning properly and readily accessible and that the work/production areas are in a clean and neat manner as evidenced by management or regulatory observation. Notify management of needed supplies in a timely manner by filling out material request forms.
Essential Functions
Maintain the grounds of the Hospital complex.
Make daily rounds of all ground parking lots, parking structures, entrances, sidewalks, fence lines, and driveways in assigned areas. This includes but is not limited to sweeping and washing the grounds, watering the lawn and plants. Empty and pick up and trash. Cleans all exterior trash receptacles, mailboxes, newspaper stands, picnic benches, tables, etc.
Perform winter season maintenance of walks, steps, entrances, and drives.
Assist in moving, beds and furniture, and cleaning of Machine Rooms and weather masters.
Assists to clean and remove trash from project/construction areas.
Assist in other areas of Department during inclement weather.
Removes trash from building to compactor daily.
Sweeps and washes compactor and trash room daily.
Responsible for installing and maintaining dust barrier when performing job duties.
Rate of Pay
Pay starting between $16.94 and $20.24, based on experience.
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years of relevant experience 2 years of documented general maintenance experience in a 500,000 square foot commercial, industrial, or institutional facility.
LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan
