Launch Assurance Inspection Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Launch Assurance Inspection Technician to support inspection and quality assurance activities during satellite integration at designated launch sites. This role ensures all mechanical and electrical systems meet defined standards and procedures through rigorous inspection processes. The position also provides occasional support in the safe handling and transport of flight hardware between facilities and launch providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document inspections of critical components using established inspection plans and checklists throughout integration activities
  • Verify and execute inspection points related to specialized ground support equipment used during integration processes
  • Manage and document configuration-controlled items, including removal, storage, and verification activities for designated flight hardware components
  • Conduct launch assurance inspections at key stages of integration, ensuring alignment with operational and quality standards
  • Identify discrepancies and initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) within internal tracking systems
  • Collect, review, and document objective evidence to verify completion of rework or corrective actions in coordination with engineering and quality teams
  • Support closure of open quality items by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Execute inspection protocols for critical electrical connections, including verification processes to ensure safe mating and de-mating of hardware

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma, GED, or Associate degree in a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in quality, inspection, mission assurance, or reliability within aerospace, manufacturing, or similar technical industries
  • Hands-on experience with inspection tools and measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Experience working with manufacturing execution or quality tracking systems
  • Familiarity with industry quality standards, inspection methodologies, and controlled processes in regulated environments
  • Exposure to hardware inspection, testing, or production in high-reliability industries

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting integration activities in complex mechanical or electrical systems environments
  • Knowledge of aerospace or similarly regulated industry standards and compliance frameworks
  • Previous involvement in launch site operations or mission-critical projects
  • Familiarity with structured risk mitigation and quality assurance processes

Technology Stack:

  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or similar workflow tracking tools
  • Inspection and measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Quality management and reporting systems
  • Standard office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and industrial or field environments
  • Capability to stand, walk, and perform inspections for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment within standard safety limits
  • Ability to work in proximity to specialized hardware and equipment while adhering to safety protocols
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 30%, as required
  • Flexibility to support alternative shifts, including evenings, based on operational needs
