Law Enforcement Coordination Specialist

If selected for this position, you will serve as the Manager of the District's Law Enforcement Coordination (LEC) Program. You will develop and implement specific program activities within the District that promote the effective utilization of federal, state, local and international law enforcement recourses. Coordinate or lead efforts to se these resources in meeting mutual goals or program objectives of the District and play a significant role in building or promoting community engagement as part of the Department of Justice initiatives, law enforcement priorities, and crime prevention opportunities. Typical work assignments will include: Design, plan and direct the dissemination of information and resource pertinent to various criminal laws and law enforcement programs designed to effectively enforce them. Design and implement approaches to facilitate communication and problem resolution for a variety of law enforcement organizations at the federal, state, and local levels. Formulate, establish, or facilitate operational task forces to address specific law enforcement issues: e/g/, covert drug enforcement, terrorist threats, border security, etc.... Use organizational, planning and instructional skills to design and present large conferences and training programs that address law enforcement/criminal justice system needs in the District, which are available to federal, state, and local law. Assess training needs based on an analysis of functional are responsibility, availability of existing training programs, and level of expertise of District law enforcement officials. Review literature on law enforcement issues, analyze changes in legislation, case law, court rules, Department of Justice policies and other issues of direct relevance to District law enforcement programs. District Office Security Manager (DOSM) Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
