Lead - AI Accelerator - EMEA

At a Glance:

On is seeking a Lead AI Accelerator to join our EMEA Finance team. In this "forward-deployed" engineering and enablement role, you won't sit in a siloed technical unit. Instead, you will be deeply embedded with our business teams to rapidly identify, prototype, and ship AI applications.

You will own a dual mission: elevating the practical AI literacy of our regional teams, and providing hands-on engineering support for lighthouse AI use cases. By bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI engineering and everyday commercial operations, you will act as a consultative builder—transforming how On works, automates, and makes decisions as we scale globally.

Your Team:

You’ll be part of the Finance team that helps On’s EMEA region navigate its rapid growth. We partner across teams to steer the business, streamline operations, and drive financial excellence. As our AI Lead, you will serve as the technical engine of our digital transformation, working side-by-side with commercial, finance, and operational teams to embed AI-driven habits directly into our organizational culture.

Your Mission:

  • Embed & Consult: Partner directly with EMEA business functions to deeply understand their workflows, acting as an internal consultant to translate complex operational bottlenecks into clear, executable AI engineering opportunities.
  • Deliver Lighthouse AI Projects: Provide hands-on development and implementation support for high-impact AI use cases. Key initial projects include building demand forecasting engines, automating Order-to-Cash (OTC) steps, and developing intelligent systems for high-complexity customer dispute resolution.
  • Rapid Prototyping & Iteration: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of regional AI products, moving rapidly from initial concept to functional Proof of Concept (PoC) within weeks, iterating continuously based on real user feedback.
  • Establish Production-Grade Standards: Move beyond simple API scripts. You will design, evaluate, and deploy secure, robust AI applications—closely managing model accuracy, latency, and API cost trade-offs in alignment with On's policies.
  • Elevate Regional AI Literacy: Design and lead regional training sessions, hackathons, and enablement programs to upskill teams on generative AI tools (like Gemini Enterprise), prompt design, and automated workflows.
  • Collaborate Globally: Partner closely with On’s global technology, data, and machine learning teams to ensure regional EMEA initiatives align with global platform architecture and data standards.
  • Synthesize Actionable Insights: Use data and AI to synthesize relevant market, consumer, and product insights for teams to make data-driven decisions.

Your Story:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in AI/software engineering, data science, technical product management, or a highly technical operations role with a proven track record of shipping software to internal or external users.
  • Advanced AI Engineering Skills:
  • Application Development: Hands-on experience building custom applications with foundation models (LLMs/LMMs), utilizing techniques such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and semantic search.
  • Prompt Engineering & Optimization: Deep expertise in structuring and optimizing prompts for complex tasks, ensuring outputs are structured (e.g., JSON), reliable, and safe.
  • AI Interface & Prototype Development: Ability to build user-friendly interfaces (using frameworks like Streamlit, Gradio, or lightweight web apps) to put AI tools directly into the hands of business users.
  • Technical Rigor & Best Practices:
  • Strong software engineering foundations (Python, Git version control, API integration, and testing).
  • Familiarity with evaluation frameworks to test LLM outputs for reliability, bias, and performance. Familiarity with orchestration frameworks, e.g., Langchain
  • Business Intelligence & Systems:
  • BI Tools: Solid experience using BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, or Power BI) to build business-facing dashboards is a must. Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (specifically BigQuery and Looker) is a strong plus.
  • Enterprise Software: Experience working alongside ERP systems (like Microsoft Dynamics 365) and financial planning tools (like Anaplan) is highly beneficial.
  • Industry Background: Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, ideally in the sports, fashion, consumer goods, or technology sectors.
  • Education: A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Mindset & Collaboration: A builder's mentality with a high bias for action, excellent communication skills, and a passion for mentoring and translating technical concepts for non-technical teams.
  • Language: Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
