LEAD DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

SUMMARY

Under the direction of department management, the Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports the development and implementation of individual support plans within a day habilitation program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role provides leadership to Direct Support Professionals by delivering training, coaching, and guiding on effective care techniques, while promoting high-quality, person-centered support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Utilize appropriate methods for working with individuals with intellectual and or physical disabilities.
  2. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as mandated by state law.
  3. Provide personal care support for individuals served.
  4. Coordinate and provide leadership to Direct Support Professionals, including daily oversight, answering questions, providing guidance, training and mentoring, facilitating team huddles, and communicating team member performance to management.
  5. Utilize service and habilitation plans to ensure proper care, assist individuals in achieving personal goals, and support participation in daily and scheduled activities.
  6. Ensure proper documentation is complete. i.e., ID notes, communication logs, schedules, and incident reports.
  7. Responsible for maintaining records, i.e., monthly calendar, daily activities, active treatment, scheduling, community outings, and reporting volunteer hours.
  8. Maintain compliance with team member-to-individual ratios.
  9. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  10. Anticipate safety needs for all individuals and team members and report all issues or concerns to department managers as soon as possible.
  11. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State (including Desert Regional Center), local regulations, and organizational policies and procedures.
  12. Attend Individual Person Centered Plan (PCP) meetings.
  13. May be assigned other duties as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Along with the Support of the Manager of Day Habilitation, this position coordinates and provides team leadership for Direct Support Professionals
