Manage the Virtual design and construction modeling process to help to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within allotted budget.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Able to perform essential Assistant VDC Lead responsibilities and duties.

  • Assist with identifying best-in-class talent, support the hiring process, and ensure new hires have a successful integration experience.

  • Assist with training, developing, coaching, and managing work assignments of VDC/Detailing staff.

  • Assist with managing and improving detailing process standardization & implementation.

  • Oversee all detailing related tasks and resources to support project sites and pursuits, including producing pursuit deliverables and participating in client interviews.

  • Lead and educate teams with reviewing, planning, and managing project requirements and deliverables.

  • Oversee and ensure proper utilization of tools and software for site surveying and layout.

  • Leverage reality capture techniques and other technologies to produce useful deliverables to solve challenges.

  • Work with project teams to maintain and communicate approved design changes within Building Information Modeling [BIM] to ensure proper coordination throughout construction.

  • Produce models to support quantity take-off for any needed trade.

  • Produce accurate virtual mock-ups.

  • Train and educate teams on proper set up of cloud based collaborative workspaces.

  • Educate and work with teams to properly utilize existing conditions capture technology data to conduct comparative analysis, identify and resolve discrepancies effectively.

  • Coach and train teams to convert reality capture into accurate model of various trades.

  • Support and train teams to generate accurate background architectural models and elements.

  • Educate teams on incorporating various gap models to support design intent and proper coordination.

  • Assist with reviewing modeling and detailing work for quality and completeness in line with best-in-class standards.

  • Identify and produce automation practices to support modeling and detailing deliverables.

  • Develop modeling and detailing deliverables that consistently deliver best-in-class shop drawings for various self-perform disciplines; coach teams to develop modeling and detailing knowledge.

  • Educate teams to develop modeling and detailing deliverables for more than one self-perform discipline.

  • Train teams on exporting layout, spooling, or other fabrication files based on required or standard templates.

  • Participate in coordination meetings to support project teams and VDC staff.

  • Maintain communication with divisional leadership to deliver and gain feedback to remain aligned.

  • Build working relationships to effectively collaborate with project teams, craft, self-perform, clients, design partners to execute projects successfully.

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.



MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in relevant field; or equivalent field experience.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of design, engineering, or construction experience; with at least 5-6 years in VDC or Detailing related experience.

  • In-depth understanding of commercial construction means and methods.

  • Experience with managing teams and driving department objectives

  • Extensive knowledge of industry standard BIM software application; advanced Revit experience expected.

  • Able to educate others on VDC systems, processes, and tools.

  • Proficient ability to read and understand plans and specifications.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with managing multiple project assignments.

  • Displays critical thinking ability with effective problem-solving skills.

  • Relationship driven, fosters collaboration, and able to partner with project and trade partners to execute project successfully.

  • Ability to travel to support company VDC needs.
