Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineering Technician
Location: Overland Park, Ann Arbor, Houston, Phoenix, Raleigh, Chattanooga, Chicago, Jacksonville or Gaithersburg.
Contract Length: 6-month contract
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $75/hr - $80/hr (DOE)
The Planet Group is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineering Technician to support Advanced Power Generation (APG) infrastructure projects through high quality 2D/3D electrical design.
Lead Electrical Engineering Technician Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Drafting or an engineering design-related technology (required)
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering design-related technology (preferred)
- Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience
- Proven experience with 3D modeling of electrical equipment and systems
- Hands on experience in duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, and electrical layout
- Strong proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and Bentley design tools
- Experience supporting Advanced Power Generation (APG) or similar complex infrastructure projects
- Ability to function as a lead technician or technical design specialist
- Experience coordinating and reviewing multidisciplinary design deliverables
- Working knowledge of project schedules, budgets, and quality assurance procedures
- AGI32 lighting design experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work onsite at one approved location (location must be specified)
Lead Electrical Engineering Technician Responsibilities:
- Function as a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisory resource
- Perform technical tasks under minimal supervision, applying advanced electrical engineering principles and practices
- Apply advanced technical expertise to solve complex electrical design challenges and support innovative engineering solutions
- Create, modify, and maintain 2D and 3D electrical design deliverables
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
- Utilize Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools, following standardized procedures
- Establish, communicate, and enforce design and graphic standards
- Lead and support conceptual and detailed design activities
- Review project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content
- Review design inputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance
- Coordinate design efforts and ensure deliverables are properly integrated across disciplines
- Ensure deliverables are prepared and issued in accordance with quality assurance and project specific procedures
- Promote quality, efficiency, and consistency across projects, groups, and sections
- Monitor production to ensure technical quality, budget compliance, and schedule adherence
- Apply sound engineering fundamentals and established design practices
- Exercise judgment, make work related decisions, and guide other technical professionals
- Coordinate, oversee, and guide engineering technicians and support staff, as applicable
- Maintain drawing control methods and historical project records
- Communicate project design requirements, progress, and schedules to stakeholders
- Support field activities, as required
- Champion the development and improvement of project tools and software applications
