Lead Engineer – Cloud Application Security
Position Summary:
As part of Emerson’s Cross Portfolio, Technology, and Innovation (CPTI) team within Measurement Solutions, the Lead Engineer – Cloud Application Security Architect plays a critical role in strengthening the security of Emerson’s cloud-based software platforms, including Plantweb™ Cloud initiatives. This role focuses on application security architecture, threat modeling, secure design and code review, and close collaboration with global development and cybersecurity teams. You will help shape secure, scalable cloud solutions that support Emerson’s customers across industries worldwide—while enjoying the stability of a Fortune 500 organization and the challenge of working within a diverse, international, and matrixed environment.

This role focuses on application security architecture, threat modeling, secure design and code review, and close collaboration with global development and cybersecurity teams. You will help shape secure, scalable cloud solutions that support Emerson’s customers across industries worldwide—while enjoying the stability of a Fortune 500 organization and the challenge of working within a diverse, international, and matrixed environment.
This role offers flexibility through a hybrid work model, enabling you to work remotely one day per week while collaborating in person with highly motivated colleagues who are passionate about delivering secure, award‑winning technology.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
• Review and analyze UML diagrams, data flow diagrams, and threat models to identify security risks and recommend practical mitigations
• Guide and mentor development teams on secure design principles and secure coding practices
• Facilitate engaging security awareness sessions and workshops for developers, architects, and leaders
• Review requirements and source code to identify and address application‑level security vulnerabilities
• Define and influence security requirements for cloud‑based software platforms and services
• Collaborate with internal cybersecurity teams across business units, geographies, and organizational levels, as well as with external partners
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud security processes while supporting compliance with IEC 62443‑3‑3, IEC 62443‑4‑1, CSA, and NIS2 requirements
• Participate in internal and external audits and standards‑based assessments
• Perform hands‑on coding when needed to support security objectives and proof‑of‑concept solutions
• Support cybersecurity documentation and review activities, including EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) compliance for cloud platforms

For This Role, You Will Need:
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated hands‑on professional coding experience, ideally within cloud‑based environments
• Strong experience with secure software development lifecycle practices and application security design principles
• Practical experience performing application‑level threat modeling and secure code reviews
• Working knowledge of cryptography concepts, including PKI and certificate management
• Awareness of current malware trends and emerging cybersecurity threats
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences

• Experience in industrial, automotive, or operational technology (OT) environments such as ICS or SCADA
• Cloud security or architecture certifications (for example, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer or Cybersecurity Architect certifications, or equivalent)
• Experience working with cloud‑native technology stacks and modern application architectures
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and CI/CD automation within active production platforms
• Familiarity with EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) requirements, IEC 62443 standards, CSA guidance, and NIS2
