Lead Java Engineer

I'm looking for an experienced Lead Java Engineer to join a global technology company developing mission-critical SaaS products. You'll become part of an international team working on the modernization of a large-scale platform, driving technical decisions and leading backend engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of core backend services and large-scale data migration initiatives;
  • Drive architecture discussions and technical planning with client engineering teams;
  • Design integration and synchronization solutions between legacy and modern systems;
  • Define engineering standards and mentor other developers;
  • Ensure high code quality through code reviews, testing, and best engineering practices;
  • Troubleshoot production issues and lead root-cause analysis;
  • Collaborate closely with distributed teams across the US, UK, and Brazil;
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requirement:

  • 7+ years of commercial Java development experience;
  • Previous experience in a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer role;
  • Strong experience building scalable backend systems and REST APIs;
  • Experience with distributed systems, messaging, and cloud environments;
  • Strong SQL and relational database knowledge;
  • Experience with large-scale system integration or data migration projects;
  • Ability to make technical decisions, mentor engineers, and lead architecture discussions;
  • Excellent English communication skills;
  • Experience working in Agile environments.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor);
  • Experience with SaaS or multi-tenant platforms;
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale migration projects;
  • Experience integrating with third-party systems.
