Learning and Development Manager – Wellways Academy
Are you passionate about building learning cultures that empower people, strengthen capability and create lasting change? Join Wellways Academy as our Learning and Development Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping how our workforce learns, grows and delivers impactful services to communities across Australia.
Reporting to the Project Manager – Wellways Academy, this role provides organisation-wide leadership in strengthening learning and development across Wellways. You will lead the delivery of values-led, contemporary learning approaches that build workforce capability, embed consistent practice and support continuous improvement.
Working across Wellways, you will help bring the Wellways Academy Strategy and Implementation Plan to life, creating learning experiences that are grounded in lived experience, informed by evidence and aligned with organisational priorities.
Key objectives
- Lead the development of a whole-of-organisation learning and capability approach that strengthens practice, confidence and workforce impact.
- Partner with leaders and teams to translate strategy, reform and practice priorities into meaningful learning solutions that support high-quality service delivery.
- Champion the integration of lived experience into learning design, ensuring the voices and expertise of people with lived experience meaningfully shape our programs.
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to the Learning and Development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Drive quality, evaluation and improvement of learning initiatives through data, insights and contemporary adult learning practices.
About you
You are an experienced learning and development leader who understands that great learning goes beyond training, it builds confidence, capability and meaningful change.
You bring:
- Strong experience leading organisation-wide learning and capability strategies within complex environments.
- A track record of designing and implementing contemporary learning approaches that create measurable impact.
- The ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships with leaders and diverse teams.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams through coaching, support and shared accountability.
- A commitment to inclusive learning practices and embedding lived experience perspectives into workforce development.
You will also need:
- Relevant training qualifications or demonstrated leadership experience/background in organisational development or learning and development
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a comparable learning and development leadership role, ideally within large, multi-program environments.
- Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake travel for the role
- Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Right to Work within Australia

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate – free online course
