Summary

The Legal Counsel, Mobility provides specialized legal support related to employee relocation, immigration, and global mobility programs, with a primary focus on the APAC region. This role ensures compliance with applicable immigration, labor, and tax regulations while mitigating risk and supporting the company's mobility strategy across key markets including Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China as well as a multitude of other markets in the APAC region. You will advise on mobility-related agreements, policies, and processes, collaborating closely with HR, Mobility, and business teams to enable seamless international assignments and relocations.



Responsibilities

  • Advise on global mobility policies, immigration matters, work permits, and employment compliance related to international assignments and relocations.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate mobility-related agreements, including assignment letters, secondment agreements, and service provider contracts.

  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and immigration requirements across jurisdictions where the company operates.

  • Support internal teams in designing and implementing mobility programs, ensuring legal risk is managed while enabling business objectives.

  • Assist with employee relocation processes, including visa applications, regulatory filings, and compliance audits.

  • Monitor changes in immigration, labor, and mobility regulations and provide timely guidance to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Talent, Finance, and business leaders on mobility-related initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development of internal mobility policies, playbooks, and knowledge resources.

  • Handle ad hoc legal projects and escalations related to mobility as they arise.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.

  • Minimum 5 years post-qualified legal experience, with a strong focus on immigration law. Experience in employment law is a strong bonus. In-house or corporate advisory work with exposure to international assignments and global mobility is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of immigration law across multiple jurisdictions, with a particular focus on APAC markets. Priority experience: Japan, South Korea, Indonesia. Additional experience in Vietnam, Singapore, or China is highly valued. Openness and willingness to research and advise across new jurisdictions is a must.

  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and mobility-related agreements.

  • Ability to provide practical, commercially minded legal guidance, balancing risk and business needs in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable navigating gray areas and finding solutions, not just identifying problems.

  • Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with HR, finance, and business teams.

  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and discretion in handling sensitive information. You bring solutions, not just problems.

  • Knowledge of multi-jurisdictional mobility regulations, tax considerations, and immigration compliance is a strong plus. Annual bar registration/membership fees are covered by the company.

  • Our salary range reflects gross base salary. For commercial roles with commission eligibility, this figure represents On-Target Earnings (OTE), inclusive of base salary and target commission.

  • Salary ranges are quoted in USD as a consistent global reference. Your offer will be localized to your country's currency using a market-aligned conversion.

  • Final pay is based on objective, job-related criteria including experience, skills, and location.

  • We don't ask about salary history. Offers are based on the role and what you bring to it.
