Legal Counsel, SEA

Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory:

· Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of matters, including commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and disputeresolution across SEA jurisdictions.

· Act as a trusted advisor to business units, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements in the region.

Contract Management:

· Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including consultancy agreements, joint ventures, and procurement contracts.

· Ensure that contracts comply with relevant laws and company policies.

Dispute Resolution:

· Handle pre-litigation and litigation matters, including managing external counsel and advising on strategies for dispute resolution.

· Support claims management and resolution processes for projects in the region.

Regulatory Compliance:

· Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations across SEA countries, ensuring compliance and advising on their impact on business operations.

· Conduct compliance training and awareness programs for employees to promote a culture of integrity and accountability.

Corporate Governance:

· Assist in corporate secretarial duties, including maintaining statutory records, filings, and board-related activities for SEA entities.

· Support governance initiatives and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.

Risk Management:

· Identify and assess legal risks in business strategies, projects, and operations, providing practical solutions to mitigate risks.

· Collaborate with leadership teams to support strategic initiatives and business growth in the region.

Internal Business

· Member of the SEA Office of Risk Management and managing risk within SEA

· Member of the SEA Legal Team and foster a can-do, collaborative and engaged team

· Liaising with and support other SEA Support Services functions (e.g. HR,IT, Finance)

Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.

· Minimum of 5–8 years of post-qualification experience in private practice and as corporate legal counsel , preferably with3 years in private practice within the engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors in Southeast Asia.

· Strong understanding of commercial law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.

· Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
