Librarian--Part Time
St. John Paul II Academy - High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, is seeking to hire a qualified Librarian for the 2026-2027 school year. The desired applicant will be able to work with administrative staff and teachers in providing library/media services as required by the educational program. This is a part-time position.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Identifies, evaluates, selects, and recommends for purchase library materials and equipment which will promote the goals and objectives of the instructional program with input from the faculty and administrators.
- Guides students in the utilization of reference materials, location of materials, and operation of equipment.
- Develops instructional student material or professional development in information literacy and digital citizenship as requested by faculty or administrators.
- Schedules classes and teaches library skills as required, in coordination with the classroom teacher.
- Prepares reports and maintains accurate records as required by administrative regulations, TCCB ED Accreditation Standards, Diocesan policy, and Federal funding regulations, where applicable.
- Assists in planning and implementing staff development programs for the library staff and faculty whose pupils utilize the library.
- Supervises library aides and volunteers.
- Classifies, catalogs, and indexes materials, using established rules and refence works.
- Safeguards book collection by enforcing return date of books and payment of late fines, if applicable.
- Maintains discipline in the library.
- Prepares and enforces rules for the library.
- Provides a suitable library environment and display of materials.
- Attends required workshops and in-services.
- Perform other duties as assigned
