Licensed Pre-K Teacher

  • Teaches a maximum of twenty (20) children.

  • Meets and greets children upon arrival to and from school daily.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Performs spot health checks on all children upon arrival to school daily.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Supervises the Teacher Assistant.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Incorporates STREAMin3, Heggerty, and HCS Language Arts curriculum in lesson plans.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Ensures children are evaluated in literacy and mathematics using VLP (PALS) and VKRP PreK math assessment.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Implements progress and report cards on each child promptly.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Maintains an inventory of all classroom supplies.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Makes requests for supplies and equipment.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Maintains a confidential and comprehensive file on each child by maintaining accurate and detailed caseload documentation.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Develop and implement an individualized service plan for each child in the areas of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual perceptual skills, self\-help skills, language skills, and cognitive skills based on individual developmental levels and developmental assessment.

  • Conducts at least two conferences per child; documents conferences accurately into the child's folder.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Writes weekly lesson plans for the classroom, and submits a copy monthly to the Program Analyst / Data Quality Manager.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Submits a monthly report to the Program Analyst / Data Quality Manager by the second day of the following month with information such as activities done in the classroom, lesson themes, field trips taken, and number of conferences with parents.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Maintains an accurate class role on all children with name, address, phone number, birth date, parent\u2019s name, emergency contact information, and other required data. Updates the class role periodically.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Maintains an accurate monthly attendance record; submits a copy of the monthly attendance record to the Program Analyst / Data Quality Manager by the second day of the following month.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Reports to the Director of Education and Training Services.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Recruits volunteers to work in the classroom; trains, orients, and supervises volunteers working in the classroom; monitors volunteer hours each day, each week, and submits a monthly report on volunteer hours to the Program Specialist by the second day of the following month.

  • Actively involves parents in classroom activities on an ongoing basis.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Attends training, workshops, and in\-services as related to the job.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Treats children, their parents, and their families with dignity and respect; maintains a positive attitude.

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding the family, the parents, and the child in every aspect, whether it be records, written documentation, verbal statements, and meetings.

    Requirements<\/h3>
    Candidates must have a Virginia Early Childhood or Elementary Education License in Pre\-K \- 6. Experience teaching preschool\-age children is required. A background check and a valid Virginia Driver\u2019s license are necessary for employment.
