Responsibilities

SHIFT: C SHIFT

Education and/or Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

People Skills.

Customer Service.

Conflict resolution.

Training of line personnel on line specific tasks.

Language Skills:

Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English.

Mathematical Skills:Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply & divide).

Must be able to read a tape measure or rule in both standard & metric.

Reasoning Ability:

o Problem solving ability.

o Understanding the use of Trouble Shooting Guides in resolving defects.

o Understanding the cost of production on the respective lines, including cost saving ideas and implementation.

o Knowledge and responsibility of required paperwork, including factory orders, daily production sheets, and customer required paperwork (Cognex data, defect data, etc.)

o Managing the breaks of line personnel (this includes the line personnel letting the operator know if he leaves the area to visit plant 1 or plant 2, or going to the office for any reason.)

o Housekeeping, which includes the line and surrounding areas including the Operator's table, winders, under the extruders, blenders, platforms, storage areas, etc.

Position Summary:

Operators are responsible and accountable for the quality of the product extruded on their respective lines.

Operators are the focal point for safety for the line personnel, customers, and vendors who might be on their respective lines.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Quality of the product on the line.

1) Know the SOP of the product being run. Know how to find SOP and train line personnel on SOP.

2) Responsible and accountable for the packaging, and labeling of the finished product prior to shipment.

3) Responsible for responding to lab data.

4) Responsible for all visual defects including streaks, gels, poor edge cuts, misaligned cores, damaged edges, and loose winds.

5) Responsible for knowing, following and ensuring that the rest of the line teams are following ISO procedures.

  • Safety:

1) The use and the enforcement of the use of P.P.E.

2) Responsible for emergency stop checklist.

3) Responsible for line personnel, customers, vendors, and new hires on their respective machines.

4) Responsible for knowing, following and ensuring that the rest of the line teams are following SWPs.

  • Operations Skills:

1) Must have the ability to run a cast line as required (Level 1).

2) Must have the ability to run more than one cast line as required (Level 2).

3) Must have the ability to run more than one high output line as required (Level 3).

4) Must have high flexibility regarding placement to other lines and ability to achieve output and quality targets.

Must know how to take a machine up from cold start. This includes reading and understanding a factory order, setting up the blenders, understanding and setting up the camera system (where applicable), understanding and setting up the gauge control system (where applicable).

Qualification Requirements:Have an excellent attendance record.

Have an excellent safety record.

Familiar with best practice safety procedures.

Able to complete operator certification program.

Completion of ISO training.

Good written and oral communications skills.

Have a fork truck operations license.

Physical Demands:Must work a 12 hour work day.

Requires standing, walking, kneeling, bending and reaching.

Requires pushing and pulling roll carts and hoists.

Requires lifting up to 55 pounds.

Requires ascending and descending ladders throughout the work day.
