Line Mechanic

As the Line Mechanic, you will be a vital member at one of\nour Alaskan processing facilities responsible for maintaining,\nrepairing and installation of Iron Butcher processing machinery and other fish\nprocessing equipment including but not limited to food grade conveyors,\nprocessing pumps, grinders and a variety of seafood processing\nequipment. This includes troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues,\nperforming routine maintenance tasks, and conducting repairs as needed to\nensure optimal equipment performance and minimize\ndowntime.
<\/p>

Position also requires a strong understanding of hydraulics,\npneumatic, and electrical systems, as well as experience with various\ntypes of processing equipment. As the Line Mechanic you\nwill be expected to set an example for the department staff in\nwork ethic, safety and attitude by working efficiently\nto maintain a high level of production for the seafood\nprocessing facility.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>

Essential Functions/Qualifications<\/u><\/b>\u202f<\/span>

The responsibilities of the position include the\nfollowing:<\/b>\u202f<\/span>
<\/p>

  • Maintain, adjust and\n repair Iron Butcher and similar heading and gutting machines to achieve\n maximum recovery and quality.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Rebuild\n and maintain pumps, motors, fans and various equipment\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Build, Maintain and\n Repair hydraulic and pneumatic system components.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Build, Maintain, and\n repair conveyors.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Weld\n and fabricate aluminum and stainless steel.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Work\n in a safe manner and take action to correct or report safety hazards to\n the Safety Manager or Chief Engineer.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Recognize\n operator errors and correct their behavior in a constructive manner.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Perform\n preventative maintenance and repairs on all production line equipment,\n including conveyors, processing machines, packaging equipment, and\n refrigeration units.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Troubleshoot\n and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Perform\n welding, fabrication, and other metalworking tasks as needed.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Maintain accurate records\n of all maintenance and repair activities.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Ensure\n compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Work\n effectively as part of a team to maintain production\n efficiency.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • May\n be required to work overtime, including weekends and holidays,\n during peak production seasons.

        Education and Experience<\/u><\/b>\u202f<\/span>

        • High\n school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
          <\/span><\/li>
        • Experienced\n in multiple mechanical skills, including knowledge of millwright,\n hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, building\n maintenance, fabricating and welding processes.\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
          <\/span><\/li>
        • Position\n requires driven machinery certifications such as a forklift, expeditor\n truck, or flatbed truck which in turn requires a valid driver\u2019s license.\u202f\u202f<\/span> <\/span>
          <\/span><\/li>
        • Previous experience\n in Seafood or Manufacturing preferred, not required.

          While performing the duties of this job, the employee is\nregularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee\nis frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and\nextreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious\nplaces; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside\nweather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in\nthe work environment is usually loud. Position\nrequires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability\nto travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our\nvarious locations and processing facilities in Alaska.
