D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Litigation Attorney. The right candidate will support the company’s business objectives, defend and pursue its legal interests. Pursue alternative resolution methods using arbitration or mediation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage litigation matters, including oversight and collaboration with outside counsel

  • Perform initial Case Investigation and Assessment

  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other court documents, respond to discovery requests, and prepare for hearings, trials, and arbitrations

  • Advise internal stakeholders and senior management on legal risks associated with business activities and proposed courses of action

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the legal team, as well as cross-functional teams across the organization, to achieve strategic objectives, manage legal risks effectively, and effect resolution among all parties

  • Locate and take preliminary statements from witnesses, reviewing documents, client interviews and investigation of relevant events leading up to the dispute

  • In an attempt to eliminate the risk and cost of going to trial, engage in pre-litigation settlement discussions to resolve the conflict before going to court

  • Draft Pre-trial motions to strike or dismiss evidence or to change the venue or location of the trial

  • Participate in the Case Management Conferences to ensure both parties fully understand all issues and provide a timetable for the events leading up to the trial and the trial itself. Present a disclosure report detailing relevant documents

  • Participate in Pre-Trial Review to ensure both parties have complied with the previously agreed timetable and confirm the trial date

  • Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits required to maintain licensure

  • Maintain current knowledge of legal developments, trends, and best practices relevant to the organization’s business

  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

  • Ability to travel overnight
