LNG Marine and Technical Assurance Manager

Job Description

JERA Global Markets manages a large global fleet of over 20 owned and spot mid-term charters and will be responsible for driving further growth in this activity.

  • Accountable for updating the LNG business for all new and existing maritime regulations that impact business activities.
  • Support new and emerging trading opportunities, providing technical solutions for associated commercial challenges
  • Review and support negotiation of SPA/MSPA/CN Clauses and address shipping related contractual matters within LNG sales Agreements
  • Support and provide input on ship/shore compatibility issues where required
  • Collaborate and work with vessel owners considering Owner’s marine policy or vessel related structural or technical challenges pertaining to potential trading activities
  • Identify and support to mitigate risks arising from shipping activities
  • Conduct marine risk based assessments and audits of terminals, vessel owners/managers
  • Work with the Head of LNG Operations to contribute to the identification and current and future marine activities, offering early stage advice and participating in project reviews and audits
  • Serve as the single point of contact for LNG terminals, ensuring timely resolution of ship/shore interface issues and collaborating on marine service reviews with the terminal.
  • Offer assessments and SME support on specialized shipping elements such as LNG Ship-to-Ship transfers, tug operations and pilotage
  • Represent JERAGM and participate in relevant government and industry forums and disseminate insights internally to drive continuous operational improvement
  • Ensure all marine activities align with the organization’s policies, expected behavious and group functional standards as well as international marine regulations
  • Provide marine expertise in LNG incident investigations
  • Assist in resolving disputes and support the LNG Freight Operations team for vessel performance claims
  • Utilise existing and new digital solutions to optimize the shipping operation to reduce fuel consumption, maximise cargo delivery and reducing emissions delivering competitive advantage to the trading business.
  • Working with the Head of LNG Operations to develop and implement a marine risk management framework
  • Assist with the vetting of charter in vessels, with the aim for developing an in house vetting framework
  • Supporting JERAGM shareholders and providing advise for Marine and technical related queries.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant LNG Shipping assurance experience
  • Possess university degree or higher
  • Possess Master Mariner or Chief Engineer certification
  • Strong technical knowledge of the LNG Ships and International Maritime regulations
  • Analytical and meticulous organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proven problem solver
  • Safety focused with an eye for bottom line profitability
  • Able to perform under time pressure and balance risk/reward
  • Confident with good interpersonal skills and able to work well in a diverse multinational global team environment
