Logistics Commodity Manager
Job Summary: This role will primarily support the Americas region with a focus on warehousing operations and strategy, managing a portfolio of warehouse sourcing and cost reduction projects. The position will support Vertiv's growing material plans and plant production requirements while delivering significant cost savings through strategic sourcing and contract optimization. This role is expected to work with global and regional teams as appropriate to share best practices and standardize global processes where applicable.
- Manages extensive warehouse project pipeline across North America, including expansions, insourcing initiatives, make vs. buy analyses, and facility transitions. Coordinates cross-functional teams through project identification, RFP/bidding processes, contract negotiations, and implementation phases.
- Develops and executes category strategies for warehousing operations, including long-term planning, sourcing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Drives cost savings and financial performance through strategic negotiations, contract optimization, and total cost of ownership analysis. Demonstrates measurable improvements in cost, cash flow, quality, and risk mitigation.
- Directs cross-functional sourcing initiatives using spend analysis, market research, and cost modeling to identify high-value opportunities that deliver innovative solutions, operational efficiencies, and sustainable value to the business.
- Manages preferred supplier program with a "plan for every partner" approach. Maintains strong relationships with warehouse providers across US, Mexico, and Canada to ensure business continuity, optimal performance, and competitive pricing while supporting Vertiv's expanding footprint.
- Establishes total landed cost and Total Cost of Ownership models for warehousing categories in alignment with stakeholders to enable data-driven decision making.
- Provides leadership to key stakeholders throughout the company, building relationships that facilitate strategic and financial value delivery. Partners with value stream leaders, operations teams, and plant management to improve performance and reduce customer friction.
- Collaborates with global Indirect Procurement team in a matrixed environment, supporting global associates and sharing best practices to standardize processes where applicable
Requirements:
- Proven experience in warehousing and logistics sourcing, including negotiating and contracting for warehouse services, with demonstrated track record of managing multi-site portfolios and delivering cost savings.
- Strong project management capabilities with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across different geographical locations through all phases (planning, bidding, negotiation, implementation).
- Warehouse network optimization experience, including make vs. buy analysis, site selection, facility transitions, and network design.
- Experience leading cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives in logistics or warehousing operations with measurable financial results.
- Proficiency with modern productivity tools including consumer AI applications (e.g., large language models like ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to enhance analysis, documentation, and decision-making efficiency.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to build cross-functional relationships and present compelling business cases to senior leadership.
- Spanish language proficiency preferred to support Mexico operations, but not required.
