M&E Interface Manager
About the role:
SMITECH is seeking an experienced M&E Interface Manager to lead project interfacing and coordination for a major M&E construction and infrastructure project in Singapore.
This role will take charge of all project interface matters across Civil & Structural, Architectural, M&E building services, consultants, subcontractors, client representatives, authorities and other project stakeholders. The successful candidate will manage the interface coordination team to ensure timely resolution of design, construction, authority approval and site coordination issues.
This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all project interface coordination matters across civil, structural, architectural, M&E building services and stakeholder workstreams.
- Establish and maintain the project interface register, coordination matrix, action tracker and issue escalation records.
- Manage the project coordination/interface team to ensure timely closure of interfacing matters and construction constraints.
- Coordinate closely with client, consultants, authorities, subcontractors, site teams, planning, BIM, QAQC and testing & commissioning teams.
- Lead regular interface and technical coordination meetings to resolve design clashes, sequencing conflicts, constructability issues and stakeholder dependencies.
- Review design drawings, shop drawings, construction methodology, RFIs, technical submissions and interface deliverables for coordination risks.
- Track and follow up on stakeholder approvals, design clearances, site access requirements, handover requirements and authority-related submissions.
- Support BCA TOP and relevant authority handover / Temporary Fire Permit coordination processes where applicable to project requirements.
- Monitor interface risks affecting programme, construction progress, quality, safety and project handover milestones.
- Prepare interface status reports, outstanding issue trackers and management updates for project leadership.
- Drive practical solutions with project teams to minimise delay, abortive works, rework and stakeholder misalignment.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Minimum ten (10) years of engineering experience, with at least five (5) years managing project construction interfaces.
- Strong experience managing interfaces across Civil & Structural, Architectural and M&E Building Services works for projects of similar scale, nature and complexity.
- Proven ability to lead project interfacing coordination involving consultants, subcontractors, client representatives, authorities and internal project teams.
- Experienced in managing design coordination, stakeholder approval processes and construction-phase interface resolution.
- Familiar with Singapore authority approval, project handover and BCA TOP-related coordination processes; experience with TFP / fire-safety handover coordination will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, design coordination, shop drawing review, RFI management, BIM coordination and site execution constraints.
- Able to lead interface meetings, track actions, escalate risks and drive timely closure of outstanding coordination matters.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, documentation and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in infrastructure, transport, utilities, airport, MRT/LTA-related, public-sector, large-scale commercial or industrial projects will be an advantage.
