Machine Operator
NASC is seeking multiple Machine Operators to support the Advanced Acoustics Sector with assembling battery packs. This role is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining a laser welder in a production environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize small hand tools and conduct mechanical assembly of handheld parts. Hot melt glue, scissors, pliers and other benchtop hand tools.
- Assemble components into a jig for further processing.Prepare machine for operation, including calibration and adjusting settings using a touchscreen and loading materials.
- Operate machinery according to production standards and safety guidelines.
- Identify and resolve minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Document and record production data, weld parameters, inspection results and machine performance logs.
- Work against technical criteria from a drawing or work instruction.
- Inspect work and identify potential defects.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Perform various other shop duties in accordance with management instructions and oversight.
- Complete an assigned volume of work during a shift.
Required Skills:
- Steady hands and hand-eye coordination for manipulating tiny parts under a microscope.
- Ability to look through a microsope and align parts under crosshairs
- Diligence to a task. Possess time management skills and do a repetitive task for a shift.
- Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow manufacturing work instructions.
- Ability to work first or second shift.
Work Experience & Education/Certification Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalency certification.
- Previous technician experience in a production environment with small components.
- Experience with Sunstone laser welders highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Dexterity with both hands.
The Machine Operators will support manufacturing for a specific production project with the potential for extension based on customer needs. The initial period will last from June until January.
