Shift: 3rd Shift 10pm - 6:30am | Shift Differential $0.50 hour
Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic Level II works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor to ensure production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with maximum uptime. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
The Maintenance Mechanic Level II is expected to continue developing technical skills and working closely with senior mechanics and supervision to progress toward a Level III classification when opportunities become available.
This is a union-represented position and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Key Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair plant equipment, including conveyors, motors, pumps, bearings, valves, and related systems.

Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication tasks according to the established PM schedule.

Complete and accurately document all maintenance work orders (SROs), including:

Parts used
-
Description of work performed
-
Labor time required
-
Equipment identification and repair details
-
Proper classification of work type (PM, safety, enhancement, service)

Perform unscheduled maintenance and emergency repairs, ensuring timely documentation and communication.

Fabricate parts and assist with repair or modification of production piping and equipment as needed.

Replace and repair components such as lights, starters, dryers, pumps, seals, gearboxes, shafts, augers, and piping systems.

Enter maintenance records electronically when required by supervision.

Support annual overhauls and maintain accurate documentation of parts usage and equipment history.

Alert Maintenance Management to any non-standard conditions, especially those related to food safety or employee safety risks.

Assist with installation and modification of equipment alongside contractors as directed.

Train entry-level maintenance mechanics in basic lubrication and preventive maintenance practices.

Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and food safety standards.

Maintain compliance with GMPs and personal hygiene requirements in a food manufacturing environment.

Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives within the maintenance department.

Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years of industrial maintenance experience required.

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance skills.

Post-secondary education in industrial maintenance, electronics, hydraulics, or PLC systems is a plus.

Welding experience (MIG/ARC) is highly desirable.

Experience with preventive maintenance systems and industrial equipment repair preferred.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read, interpret, and complete maintenance documentation accurately.
Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment with changing priorities.
-
Approximately 90% of time spent in the plant performing hands-on maintenance work, including climbing stairs and ladders, bending, and working in various positions.

Approximately 10% of time spent in the maintenance shop performing fabrication and repair work.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
-
Ability to safely work around industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and production environments.

Must be able to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures at all times.
