Maintenance & Reliability Manager - Joplin, MO

Overview:

The Department Maintenance & Reliability Manager will provide technical leadership and expertise to the facility. The Manager will oversee and lead maintenance procedures, projects, and continuous improvement activities in the plant. Duties include tracking expenses, reporting progress, maintaining machinery, capital planning, planning repairs, developing maintenance procedures, and building maintenance capabilities. Success in this role will require an individual who is energized by hands-on and tactical activities within their accountability, as well as the strategic and leadership opportunities presented by being a part of a small plant leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide, educate, coach, develop and motivate maintenance team members
  • Develop, implement, and own site Planned Maintenance systems and asset care strategies for all site assets - production, facilities and utilities equipment
  • Track and report maintenance measurement data
  • Execution of small capital improvement projects
  • Manage maintenance and capital budgets
  • Identify recurring maintenance problems-- recommend and execute solutions
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of equipment failure history and life cycle cost
  • Reduce downtime: Identify problem areas, troubleshoot malfunctions, and establish clear plans of action to resolve issues quickly without disrupting operations.
  • Drive preventative/predictive maintenance: Shift into a more proactive maintenance strategy by creating, updating, and managing robust PM schedules to extend equipment lifespan. Partner with Operations for Manufacturing Excellence activities.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Engineering and across the site to drive standardization and alignment
  • Implement Continuous Improvement: Develop and enforce SOPs and leverage data analysis to optimize maintenance efficiency and asset reliability.
  • Workflow optimization: Design and implement agile processes and productivity improvements.
  • Develop a strategic plan across the site for capital investment, system/technology improvements, and productivity initiatives including short- and long-range capital investment plans. Responsible for the capital investment process for the site.
  • Budget: Develop, track, and manage the annual maintenance budget, allocating funds for repair, upgrades, and operational needs.
  • Vendors: Partner with contractors or service providers and manage budgets, onsite activities with GMP compliance, and
  • Inventory Control: Monitor spare parts with a criticality focus to avoid significant production downtime while aligning with financial goals.
  • Assist in leading Business Development projects, which may include transferring product line
  • Provide recommendations in the selection of new machines, tooling, automation and processes required to meet safety, productivity, and quality objectives
  • Know, understand, communicate, and adhere to company policies and procedures, which include, but are not limited to, attendance, safety, HACCP, cGMP’s, Preventive Controls for Animal Foods, Quality program/requirements, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment or other applicable experience.
  • Ability to create and lead strategic initiatives and a track record of delivering strong results.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with Operation personnel including building positive employee relations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement processes.
  • Ability to lead teams through change and coach direct reports.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $82400.00 - $123800.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
