Maintenance Shift Team Leader

The Opportunity
Our Hot Strip Mill team is looking for a Maintenance Shift Team Leader to join the team based in Port Kembla! As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in leading shift-based maintenance ensuring equipment performance and plant availability are optimised. You’ll work closely with operations and maintenance teams to deliver safe and efficient and outcomes.
This is a permanent opportunity, working a 7-day rotating roster across 12-hour day and night shifts.
What Will You Do?
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:
- lead and support shift maintenance to achieve business targets and maintain operational performance
- ensure safety standards are never compromised, proactively identifying and addressing risks and opportunities
- coordinate and supervise maintenance activities to ensure production is delivered safely, efficiently and within standards
- collaborate closely with maintenance, operations and planning teams to ensure effective work scheduling and resource allocation
- drive a proactive maintenance approach by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices and asset performance
- coach, mentor and develop team members to build technical capability, accountability and team performance
- there will be times when this role will lead and support both operations and maintenance teams to achieve business targets and maintain operational performance

- demonstrated experience leading teams in a manufacturing, industrial or operational environment
- a strong safety-first mindset, with a commitment to the care and wellbeing of yourself and others
- tertiary qualifications in engineering (mechanical or electrical or operational) will be highly regarded’
- sound decision-making skills and the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced production environment
- strong communication skills with the ability to translate business objectives into clear priorities and actions for your team
- a focus on continuous improvement and achieving sustainable outcomes
