Position Summary:
This position works under the direction of the Lead Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Tech assists with the operation and maintenance of all YTT-managed facilities and properties. Other duties may include general laborer work including hauling goods, painting, basic carpentry, landscaping, and snow removal.
This position requires compliance with Yakutat Tlingit Tribe’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the position’s regular performance.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Lead Maintenance Tech and Facilities Administrator with preventive maintenance and repairs of equipment and facility components.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain and tracks material supplies needed for operation of building and medical service components including inventory, ordering, material receiving, stocking, tracking of inventory supplies.
- Perform general aesthetic upkeep which can include painting, basic carpentry, landscaping, or snow removal.
- Assist in carrying out regularly scheduled equipment checkups or repairs, as requested.
- Perform heavy lifting and manual labor as needed
- Assist with construction tasks from foundation to finish work
- Read and interpret tape measurements accurately, apply basic carpentry fundamentals.
- Work safely and efficiently as part of a team
- Other operational duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of the structure, functions and operations of Yakutat Tlingit Tribes departments.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of carpentry and construction tools
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and information with tact and discretion.

- Ability to read a tape measure and follow instructions

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; climb ladders, crawl, need full mobility of all limbs able to navigate and work in tight/closed areas. Must not be claustrophobic, acrophobic, or be colorblind. This position requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in cramped spaces.
This position requires possible exposure to hazardous work environments and working with high voltage, hazardous machinery, equipment, and materials that require special safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.
This position requires operation of a motor vehicle.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility or authority.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry and construction tools
- Ability to read a tape measure and follow instructions
- Willingness to learn and take on various tasks
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
- Must be able to pass a National Criminal and State background check.
